Labrador Rescue Kent

Labrador Rescue Kent and Borders is a Registered Charity (No.1067495) formed in 1997 which aims to recover, rehabilitate and rehome any Labrador Retriever in the County of Kent and its borders that has been ill-treated, neglected or whose owners can no longer keep it.

We are not directly associated with any other Labrador Rescue Organisation but will try to assist any, which may contact us for help. Labrador Rescue Kent and Borders does not normally have homeless Labradors waiting in kennels to be rehomed.

If circumstances allow, the owner of the Labrador which requires rehoming, continues to keep the dog until the right home is found. However, if the dog needs to be removed immediately from the home for whatever the reason, Labrador Rescue Kent and Borders can arrange for the dog to be placed in a foster home approved by us. We are always grateful to these foster families for their care and if you could help us in this way please contact your local helper.

Monthly Update
NOVEMBER 2008
(compiled 08-12-08)

In November we took in 15 labradors to be rehomed with several more waiting to come in. We were able to find homes for nine of them and they have all settled well.
The remaining six are still in kennels waiting for new homes. Normally we leave the dogs in their homes until we can find new homes for them but these were emergencies and we had to take them in.
We do not have kennels so have to rely on using commercial kennels, the cost of doing this hits us very hard financially.
It always seems that no sooner we rehome a dog than two more need to come in, some needing to come in urgently and we are now are back in the position where we have ten dogs in kennels with more on our books waiting to be rehomed. Average kennel costs are £10 per day so there is a limit to the number of dogs we can keep in kennels. We have at the moment more than reached that limit, but these dogs needed our help.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have sent donations with your Christmas cards. This money will be put to good use and will help give the dogs in kennels at Christmas a treat.

Dogs Needing A Home last updated 5th Dec. 2008

HAVE YOU GOT A HOME

FOR JACK?

OR MAC?

Jack is a five year old black dog. We do not have much history on Jack but know that he is good with older children. He is not very good with other dogs but we understand this is because he has not met many dogs.
He is being exercised and introduced to the outside world by our Chairman and his wife. Jack has lost all his excess weight and is now full of energy. He is inquisitive and very interested in all that goes on around him. He has a lovely temperament  and is a very friendly dog. Jack has been with us since August and we would love to find him a home soon.
If you decide you would like to offer him a home please contact us. We will help in every way to settle him into his new home and provide a back-up service to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Mac has been with us since the beginning of May. He is a six year old yellow dog. When we took him in he was grossly overweight and had a bad ear infection. He is now at an ideal weight . Our vet has attended to Mac's ears and this problem is now cured. We also had him castrated while he has been in our care. Mac is quite a strong dog, great temperament. He gets on fine with the dogs around him but can be a bit boisterous towards new dogs that he meets. He has cost us in the region of £2000---kennelling and veterinary fees and is now ready for a loving home. Again we will be on hand to help him settle into his new home.
